The Project
A New Logo for a Storied Brand
LAist, a well-known news source for the city of Los Angeles, recently came under new ownership and wanted a fresh look as they embarked on their next chapter. While the brand is known for its fresh, forward-thinking perspectives, it also has a history rooted in truth and first-class journalism, which any new logo would need to convey.

The Result
Focus on Core Values with a Forward -Thinking Flair
To ensure we created a logo that truly represented LAist, I started with a focus on its core values. From there, I integrated audience research, the competitive landscape, and a deep-dive into the visual history of Los Angeles. We used each of these elements to create multiple new logo options that were then tested against local and national audiences before LAist made its final selection, which is currently integrated on all of their platforms.
